An elderly man lived in a place with terrible conditions. He did not have sources of water or electricity. After a long time and without expecting it, when he opened the door, what he found was something emotional that would change his life forever.
This is the story of Don Roberto, who had the misfortune of living in a place that was not suitable for spending his day-to-day. It is nothing new that the vast majority of the elderly live in appalling conditions. Thanks to the big hearts of some neighbors, this 81-year-old man got possibly the best gift of life from him. So much so that it was the first time that he smiled and looked happy.
For many years, Roberto lived in a place without electricity or hot water that he could access to take a nice bath. In fact, he lacked furniture, and the bed barely allowed him to rest at night.
Seeing such a situation, the neighbors around him gathered with the aim of giving the man some comfort. Thanks to this gesture, the change he got in his life was drastic, in a good way. So much so that his entire house was completely renovated. If we make a comparison between before and now, you would not believe that it is the same place.

Of course, it was not an overnight change, but little by little, the perfect place for Don Roberto, where he currently lives, was achieved. Each neighbor contributed a grain of sand every day, and they took turns among themselves.

On the other hand, Roberto’s story became known thanks to the posts made on Instagram. Thanks to this, people were connecting with Don Roberto. Among the publications made, it was shown that his toilet was not working, the floor was completely broken, he did not have a hot water system during cold times, and much more.
It was thanks to this that the surrounding neighbors found out about such a situation, and the community came together to give him the help he needed. From this moment on, Mr. Roberto began to receive all kinds of donations that would make his quality of life better.
It was inevitable not to take pictures of Roberto. His happy face was something that couldn’t be ignored. Now his small place of stay has become a cozy place where he can rest and have certain comforts that he did not have before. In fact, his home was completely transformed to the point of being unrecognizable.
It is important to mention that there was a neighbor who was kind enough to donate a kitchen along with a microwave. So now this old man will be able to cook better-quality food. And if he worries about where he will store his food, he also has a refrigerator, so he literally has everything he needs to stay calm and comfortable.

This is not the only case in which elderly men or women live in such conditions. There are thousands of old people who are going through a very painful reality every day. According to WHO data, around 20% of all the elderly in the world suffer from some form of abuse or live in precarious conditions. Whether it be from families or caregivers who have been neglectful of their older relatives,
Sadly, our abilities deteriorate as we get older.
Therefore, we should be more empathetic with our elderly and give them the right conditions so that they can live in peace. After all, we will also reach that point with some illness or physical or mental disability. You most likely want some kind of help or special treatment.
For this and many other reasons, it is very important to raise awareness among our population regarding the elderly. It is not an easy task, but it is not impossible either.
